The United States has topped 43 million COVID-19 cases. According to Johns Hopkins University, there have been 43,116,407 cases resulting in 690,426 deaths representing a mortality rate of 1.6%.
The one bit of good news here is that it took a bit longer to add another 1 million cases. Whereas it took 5 days to go from 41 to 42 million cases, it took 9 days to get from 42 to 43 million cases. But in those 9 day nearly 18,000 Americans died of COVID-19. At this rate, we could hit 700,000 deaths by October 1st.
Today, President Biden got his COVID booster shot live in the White House. Of course, it might not have been necessary for Biden or any other American to get a booster shot if more Americans were willing to be vaccinated.
As it stands, millions of Americans haven't had a first shot much less a third. We saw a few of those Americans storm a food court in Staten Island where proof of vaccination was required chanting, "F*#k Joe Biden!!!" and, for bad measure, "Trump Won!!!"
I wonder how many of those unvaccinated folks in that food court will find themselves testing positive for COVID in the next week. I also wonder how many of those unvaccinated folks will find themselves in the ICU in the next month. I further wonder how many of those unvaccinated folks will be buried before the end of the year.
I would implore God to help us, but I think we are on our own.
