Kamala Harris & Why I Can't Abide It When Someone Says "Your Truth"

Whenever I hear someone say "your truth" it makes me cringe.

When the Vice-President of the United States say "your truth" it makes me mortified.
During a surprise appearance at George Mason University yesterday by Vice-President Kamala Harris, a student told Harris that she objected to Israel getting funding for the Iron Dome and accused it of "ethnic genocide."

Did Harris admonish the student for engaging in defamation and speaking falsehoods?

On the contrary, Harris praised the student for speaking "your truth". To be precise, the Vice-President stated:
I’m glad you did. And again this is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth should not be suppressed and it must be heard, right? And one of the things that we’re fighting for in a democracy, right, a democracy is its strongest when everybody participates.

Oh, what rubbish!!!

And I say this as someone who cast a ballot for her last November and would likely do so again in November 2024.

Would Harris have been praising this person for speaking her "truth" if she had claimed that Donald Trump had won the election or if COVID-19 vaccines change human RNA?

Of course she wouldn't and rightly so.

Yes, we want participatory democracy but we also want an informed electorate which doesn't engage in conspiracy theories. Nor do we want elected officials indulging some foolishness.

Let me put it another way. It is every bit as wrong for Vice-President Harris to indulge anti-Semitic defamation as it was for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to invite anti-vaxxers to "speak their truth" .

I hope someone tells Harris never to say "your truth" ever again.
