The biggest headline in the country is Georgia Congressman John Lewis declaring, "I don't see Trump as a legitimate President."
I am not so much fascinated by the fact Lewis made the statement, but rather how Trump will respond to him on Twitter.
I can see it. Trump tweets that Lewis is overrated, needs to retire or got in the head too hard.
If Trump attacks Lewis then the mainstream media will come out with headlines, "Trump Attacks Civil Rights Icon". It will dog him between now and the inauguration.
I'm sure Kellyanne Conway is telling him to let this one go. Will Trump be smart enough to follow that advice?
He got out of the way when James Comey reopened the e-mail investigation against Hillary Clinton.
But it's one thing for Trump to get out of the way when his opponent is vulnerable. It's another thing for Trump to get out of the way when he's the target of someone's ire (i.e. Meryl Streep).
I know Trump prides himself on being a counter puncher. But Trump has never learned how to choose his battles. Getting into a fight with John Lewis is a fight he can't win.
Well, we should find out at about 3 a.m.
UPDATE: I was off by about two hours.
There's nothing so reliable as Trump's predictability, i.e., stimulus, then the wrong response.
