Trump & The GOP's Disgraceful Embrace of Julian Assange

This morning President-Elect Trump tweeted the following:

Julian Assange said "a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta" - why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info!

Honestly, it is a rather unbecoming for an incoming President to take Assange's word at face value. But if he does then I have a bridge which crosses from Brooklyn into Manhattan that I'd like to sell him.

Because if we are take Assange at his word then we must remember the words he uttered at a London restaurant when he planned to leak the names of Afghans who had helped us against the Taliban and al-Qaeda, "So, if they get killed, they've got it coming to them. They deserve it."

Sarah Palin used to condemn Assange for words and deeds like that. Today, she apologized to Assange. So what's actually changed between then and now? I'm sure Assange fervently believes the Taliban and al-Qaeda should kill Afghans disloyal to it. The only thing that has changed is that Donald Trump becomes President in 16 days.

You know who once said that WikiLeaks was "disgraceful" and that Assange should be given "the death penalty or something".

Who else? Donald J. Trump.

All of which demonstrates that Trump will say anything. The only difference now is that when Trump says anything, Republicans will embrace as the gospel truth.

Perhaps in a few years from now, Assange will see fit to expose Trump's misdeeds. In which case, we can expect Trump to revert positions once again. We can also expect to see Republicans racing to see who can jump the highest.
