Ferrer was born into Hollywood royalty. His father was Oscar winning actor Jose Ferrer and his mother was singer Rosemary Clooney. Ferrer would make his own name in Hollywood during the 1980's. His breakout role took place in Robocop. Ferrer was generally cast as a heavy, but I remember him best from his role as Dr. Garrett Macy in the NBC TV series Crossing Jordan with Jill Hennessy and Ken Howard (who passed away last year).
In recent years, Ferrer appeared in Iron Man 3 and would join the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles. Later this year, he will been seen posthumously in the Twin Peaks revival reprising his role of FBI pathologist Albert Rosenfield he made famous in the early 1990's.
What I did not know was that Ferrer played drums on Keith Moon's version of The Beach Boys' classic "Don't Worry Baby" on his only solo album Two Sides of the Moon. Ferrer is an honorary member of rock 'n roll heaven.
