Although Jimmy Snuka has now left this mortal coil a shadow remains over him.
Snuka's death yesterday from stomach cancer and complications of dementia at the age of 73 comes less than two weeks after third-degree murder charges against were dismissed because he was deemed incompetent to stand trial in the 1983 death of his girlfriend Nancy Argentino. Charges were not brought against Snuka until 2015 by which time the former professional wrestler's health was already in serious decline.
Naturally one wonders why it took so long for the DA in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania to bring charges against Snuka. Was it because of his celebrity? Did they just refuse to take domestic violence seriously? Or was it just plain incompetence?
Whatever the reason there must always be a question as to whether Jimmy Snuka got away with murder. Regrettably, this overshadows his spectacular accomplishments in the ring.
