I am entirely not surprised that President-Elect Trump went after Congressman John Lewis for questioning his legitimacy. I am only surprised it took him so long. He tweeted this at around 5 a.m. instead of his usual 3 a.m.
Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk - no actions or results. Sad!
No, what's sad is that Trump doesn't know how to choose his battles. Nearly losing one's life on the Edmund Pettus Bridge isn't talk, talk, talk. It is also demonstrably untrue that Lewis' district is falling apart. Clearly, Trump hasn't bothered to pay a visit.
It isn't to say that Lewis isn't above criticism. I criticized his testimony against Jeff Sessions the other day.
But as I argued yesterday, "If Trump attacks Lewis then the mainstream media will come out with headlines, "Trump Attacks Civil Rights Icon". It will dog him between now and the inauguration." Well, today The New York Times reads, 'All Talk, No Action,' Trump Says in Attack on John Lewis, A Civil Rights Icon."
Donald Trump might not care for The New York Times but he supplied them with the rocks.
Trump gains absolutely nothing from this spectacle. But can what one expect of a 70-year man with the mind of a 7-year old?
