Trump's Trust of The Kremlin Over U.S. Intelligence is Troubling

It's very possible that the dossier on President-Elect Trump published by BuzzFeed which, for all intents and purposes, accuse him of being Russian spy, are false.

Predictably, he unleashed a flurry of tweets denouncing the story.

Two of those tweets in particular stood out for me:

Russia just said the unverified report paid for by political opponents is "A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FABRICATION, UTTER NONSENSE." Very unfair!

Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to "leak" into the public. One last shot at me.Are we living in Nazi Germany?

First, Trump accepts Russia's word on the matter at face value.

Second, without a shred of evidence, he accuses our own intelligence agencies of trying to ruin him.

Third, he invokes the ugly specter of Nazi Germany.

What does it say about Trump when he publicly states that Russia is a beacon of truth while our intelligence cannot be trusted?

Yes, our intelligence has made its share of mistakes. But I would remind people that Russia also thought Saddam had WMDs.

Whatever the faults of U.S. intelligence, it is not rounding up people on trains and placing them into gas chambers. Comparing our intelligence operatives to the Nazis not only undermines public confidence does not help their morale.

The fact that Trump so eagerly, enthusiastically and instinctively defends Russia and Russian interests makes me think that where there's smoke there's fire.

Of course, Trump is scheduled to have his press conference in less than an hour and no doubt he will come out swinging. This is what his fans love and as long as his fans adore him I suspect that Trump will probably survive this even if some of the allegations turn out to be true.
