According to Newsmax, Hillary Clinton wants to be New York City's next mayor.
There is a certain logic to it. It would mean that Hillary's biography doesn't end with her loss to Donald Trump. Instead, she would lead America's largest city. As the mayor of Trump's hometown she would remain a thorn in his side.
So what of current mayor Bill de Blasio?
He is completing his first term that has been rife with scandal and is under investigation by multiple grand juries. In 2000, de Blasio managed Hillary's successful Senate bid. But that's ancient history. He wasn't exactly eager to endorse her last year and she didn't take his endorsement eagerly.
While an argument can be made that de Blasio is vulnerable, he has nothing on Hillary when it comes to scandals. The Clinton Foundation makes the Campaign for One New York look like a lemonade stand. Nor do I think de Blasio has any classified e-mails on his personal computer.
Sure, their might be a lot of Democratic Party bigwigs who would prefer Hillary over de Blasio. But what about New York's progressives? Are they ready to abandon de Blasio? They just got burned by picking Hillary over Bernie. Do they really want to go through all that again?
New Yorkers might not particularly appreciate her treating the NYC mayoralty like its consolation prize or a launching pad for a third White House bid.
Should Hillary make a bid for Gracie Mansion it guarantees the Clintons will continue to be an albatross on the neck of the Democratic Party
