U.S. COVID Cases Top 64M as SC Blocks Biden's Testing & Vaccine Mandate

In a 6-3 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court blocked President Biden's testing and vaccine mandate for businesses with more than 100 employees in a suit brought forward by the National Federation of Independent Business.

The Court's decision comes the day that COVID cases have not only topped 63 million, but 64 million. According to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, there have been 64,061.015 COVID cases resulting in 846,459 deaths representing a mortality rate of 1.3%.

One can only hope that most businesses will have the good sense to maintain such provisions even without a federal mandate. On a personal note, my employer requires full vaccination and a booster shot. However, there are some states like Florida which have limited the ability of private businesses from initiating their own testing and vaccine mandates.

In a separate 5-4 ruling, however, the Court agreed to allow a vaccine mandate for most health care workers which receive federal funding. Still, a good segment of this country wants to do things the hard way.
