While in Dubai for the UN Climate Conference, French President Emmanuel Macron took a page out of Vice-President Kamala Harris' book and felt the need to lecture Israel.
Macron said, "Achieving the “total destruction of Hamas” would mean “the war will last 10 years. So this objective must be clarified."
For starters how does Macron know it would take Israel 10 years to destroy Hamas?
What military expertise does he possess or what advice has he received to draw that conclusion?
Frankly, I think pulled that figure out of his ass.
After all, it was less than a month ago when Macron accused Israel of "bombing ladies, babies and old people." Macron's thoughtless comments caused anxiety among French Jews and he subsequently had to call Israeli President Isaac Herzog to clarify his comments.
I think Macron needs to clarify his comments once more. Does he want Israel to learn to live with Hamas as it did prior to October 7th?
Yet I cannot imagine Macron uttering such thoughts if Hamas, ISIS or al Qaeda were to visit the sort of violence upon France which Israel experienced nearly two months ago.
Keep in mind that France has had its own history with terrorism with the Charlie Hebdo and Hyper Cacher attacks in January 2015 following by the attack on Paris in November of that year. Simply put, Macron is making demands of Israel which he would not make of himself if France experienced a Hamas style attack.
Mind you, I'm not saying Israel destroying Hamas is an overnight proposition. However, if the capacity of ISIS can be severely degraded then the same holds true for Hamas.
However, it would seem the world does not want Israel to destroy Hamas much less exercise its right to defend itself.
