For all of their resolutions on anti-Semitism and confronting university presidents who equivocate on whether call for the genocide of Jews violates their code of conduct, I do not trust Republicans to stand with Israel in its hour of need.
In response to President Biden's Oval Office address in October calling for additional military funding for both Israel and Ukraine, House Republicans last month passed a measure for Israel alone but only if it meant gutting the IRS by $14.3 billion. This is a dead letter and Republicans know it.
Their Senate GOP counterparts were no better rejecting aid to both Israel and Ukraine with a little help from Bernie Sanders. Senate Republicans say not one penny will go to Israel and Ukraine unless there are funds for border security with Mexico. Last I checked, Mexicans aren't gliding into the U.S. on hang gliders wantonly killing American civilians.
If Republicans genuinely cared about the rise of anti-Semitism in this country since the Hamas attacks against Israel, then they would approve aid to Israel unconditionally. On the question of Ukraine, Republicans have shown themselves to be little more than Russian apologists. The same could be said for their rejection of aid to Israel as Russia has asserted that Israel has no right to defend itself.
When it comes to Israel and combatting anti-Semitism, Republicans are all talk and no action.
