Since the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7th, anti-Semitism has exploded in the United States.
One city in particular which has seen some notable anti-Semitic incidents is Oakland, California.
Late last month, there was a disgraceful display of pro-Hamas cheerleading at an Oakland City Council meeting which passed a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza while the Council defeated an amendment which would have condemned Hamas.
Then earlier this week, amid Chanukah, a menorah was dismantled, vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti with parts of it thrown into Lake Merritt.
Oakland is one of the most left-wing cities in the U.S. and, at the very least, the first two incidents can definitively be attributed to left-wing anti-Semitism.
Given these recent events one must ask if Oakland has the dubious distinction of being America's most anti-Semitic city. It will be interesting to see which jurisdictions experienced the most anti-Semitism in 2023, but I have a strong feeling Oakland will be high on the list.
