Everybody makes mistakes. However, some are more prone to them than others. Exhibit A: Fox News.
Now some of their mistakes are deliberate such as the ones they uttered about Dominion Voting Systems which cost them $787 million.
But others are just plain careless owing to a lack of diligence.
Enter Baseball Hall of Famer Frank Thomas.
Yesterday, FOX News included Thomas in a year end "In Memoriam" segment on "The Faulkner Focus".
The problem is they had the wrong Frank Thomas.
The baseball playing Frank Thomas who died this year is not a Hall of Famer, but rather played 16 seasons during the 1950s and 1960s with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Braves, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros. That Frank Thomas earned three NL All-Star appearances with the Pirates in 1954, 1955 and 1958. Thomas would finish fourth in NL MVP balloting in 1958. This Frank Thomas died last January at the age of 93.
However, Hall of Famer Frank Thomas is alive, well and rightly pissed off with Fox News. Thomas took to X to state:
Ladies and Gentlemen I’m very sorry my ex-employer Fox would be this irresponsible on National TV this morning. Yes I’m alive and doing well. This blows my mind also.
That's right!!! Thomas, 55, worked for Fox Sports from 2014 to 2022 before joining Apple TV + in 2023.
Thomas, who was known as The Big Hurt, played in MLB from 1990 through 2008 primarily with the Chicago White Sox where he earned back-to-back AL MVPs in 1993 and 1994. He also played with the Oakland A's and the Toronto Blue Jays. In 19 seasons, Thomas had a lifetime batting average of .301 with 521 HR and 1704 RBI. Thomas was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2014 with 83.7% of the vote.
Frank Thomas is a Hall of Famer. Fox News are Hall of Shamers.
