Trump to America: No COVID Stimulus For You But a Supreme Court Justice For Me

President Trump may have been (and probably still is) affected by COVID-19. But that doesn't mean he cares about anyone else who has COVID-19 or is unemployed because of it (such as myself).

Trump made his priorities loud and clear in (what else?) a tweet. Well, four tweets to be exact:
Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19. We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their request, and looking to the future of our Country. I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business. I have asked @senatemajldr Mitch McConnell not to delay, but to instead focus full time on approving my outstanding nominee to the United States Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett. Our Economy is doing very well. The Stock Market is at record levels, JOBS and unemployment also coming back in record numbers. We are leading the World in Economic Recovery, and THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

The Stock Market, of which Trump speaks so fondly, promptly fell 300 points after his tweets.

Of course, it is Trump who is acting in bad faith. Pelosi and House Democrats passed a second, slimmed down version of the HEROES Act last week which amounted to $2.2 trillion (not $2.4 trillion) following the $3 trillion relief package passed in May but not approved by the Senate.

If this were an episode of Seinfeld he would be saying, "No Stimulus for you!!!"

Put more bluntly he doesn't give a flying fuck about anyone else who is ill or unemployed especially those residing in so-called "poorly run, high crime Democrat states" (read: high African-American and Latino populations). All that matters is appointing a Supreme Court justice whose nomination ceremony infected him and it would seem half the White House.

If there is indeed no stimulus for this calendar year then what of the Lost Wage Assistance program which provided six weeks of supplemental unemployment relief through September 6th. Will this be extended in lieu of a stimulus bill? Or will no more FEMA money be forthcoming either?

I don't see how President Trump thinks this will earn him re-election. Unless, of course, he believes he will remain in the White House - election or no election, steroids or no steroids.
