France was rocked by a second Islamist terrorist attack in less than two weeks when a Tunisian national shouting "Allahu Akbar!!!" stabbed three worshippers to death including a woman who was beheaded at the Basilica of Notre Dame in Nice.
Earlier this month, a school teacher in a Paris suburb named Samuel Paty was beheaded by an 18-year old Russian national from Chechnya. This assailant and several accomplices have been charged in connection with the attack which was motivated by Paty teaching his students about the Charlie Hebdo controversy over the depictions of Muhammad in their publication more than five years ago.
French President Emmanuel Macron's vigorous response to the attack on Paty has drawn criticism from Muslim majority countries like Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. But Macron and the French Republic are unlikely to be swayed by such protests especially in light of today's attack and a separate attack at the French Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where a guard was stabbed but is expected to survive.
It is said that things come in three and I strongly suspect another attack in France will come soon especially with the condemnation of France from the Muslim world which has the effect of condoning terrorism.
