Days before he was begin his 40 month prison sentence, Roger Stone received a "get out of jail free" card when President Trump commuted his sentence this evening.
While White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany calls Stone a "victim of a Russia Hoax", a jury convicted Stone of seven counts of lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstruction of justice. But if you are a friend of President Trump, especially one who knows where the bodies are buried, he will leave no stone unturned.
All of which means while President Trump wants to risk millions of schoolchildren being infected with COVID-19, Stone gets to skip across the water.
If there was no pandemic, recession or social unrest perhaps this development would roll off people's backs like water. Yet Trump's decision to commute Stone's sentence proves not only the President has no intention to drain the swamp but build a moat around it and have us pay for it.
