Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms revealed this afternoon she has tested positive for COVID-19. At this point, Bottoms, 50, is asymptomatic. Hopefully she will remain so.
In recent weeks, Bottoms has been considered a top contender to be Joe Biden's running mate and barring any significant complications one can only hope she remains in his orbit given her willingness to stick her neck out for him when it was not fashionable to do so.
Should Biden see fit to choose Bottoms then she can be a compelling figure when debating Vice-President Pence on the Trump Administration's response to COVID-19 considering how he has avoided wearing masks. To have experienced COVID-19 firsthand, Bottoms can put a human face on the condition and address it with a level of compassion and sympathy that Pence simply cannot comprehend let alone convey.
