Puig Tests Positive for COVID-19; Won't Play For Braves But Freeman Will

Only 72 hours after outfielder Yasiel Puig signed with the Atlanta Braves to replace Nick Markakis in the outfield, the Cuban born Puig tested positive for COVID-19. As such he will not wear a Braves uniform in 2020.

On the positive side of the ledger, Freddie Freeman who had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month has been cleared to return. I would hope though the Braves take things slow with Freeman.

It was Freeman's positive test as well as that of fellow Braves teammates Touki Touissant, Will Smith and Pete Kozma which prompted Markakis to bow out this season which prompted the Braves to seek out Puig.

One hopes this has all come full circle. But I believe the spiral may soon get out of control.
