How Can Oklahoma Governor Stitt Be "Pretty Shocked" He Has COVID-19?

When Oklahoma Republican Governor Kevin Stitt learned he had tested positive for COVID-19 he said he was "pretty shocked" to be the first Governor to be diagnosed with the condition.

How is this possible?

This is the same man who at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the middle of March posted a picture of himself on Twitter with his children in a crowded restaurant eschewing all social distancing.

Although Stitt deleted the tweet, a spokesman said, "The governor will continue to take his family out to dinner and to the grocery store without living in fear and encourages Oklahomans to do the same."

Last month, Stitt hosted President Trump's infamous rally in Tulsa. When the Tulsa Health Department objected to the rally posed a threat as a super spreader risk, Stitt was dismissive:

"My response to those folks — the naysayers: When is the right time?" The coronavirus is in the United States; it's in Oklahoma, We have to take precautions. We have the freedom to stay home. You have the freedom to come to this rally."

So how can Stitt be shocked he has COVID-19?

Did he think COVID-19 was a hoax?

Did he think he was too young? He's 47 (I am too).

Did he think being Governor protected him?

Whatever Stitt was thinking he didn't think it through. Despite being diagnosed with COVID-19, Stitt has no intention of implementing the mandatory wearing of masks. Now that is shocking. But sadly not surprising.
