Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Makes Anti-Semitic Remarks; Ex-NBA Player Stephen Jackson Defends Him

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson doesn't like Jews very much.

On Monday, Jackson posted a quote on Instagram falsely attributed to Hitler which claimed Jews will "extort" and "blackmail" America. Jackson, 33, also had words of praise for the Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan, one of America's most well known anti-Semites.

Jackson was taken to task by the Eagles and issued a non-apology apology in which he claimed, "Anyone who feels I have hate towards the Jewish community took my post the wrong way."

Exactly what way does DeSean Jackson believe Jews should take claims we "extort" and "blackmail" America? Exactly what way should Jews think of a public figure who praises Louis Farrakhan?

While New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees got plenty of heat from the ranks of the NFL when he said he would never agree with anyone who disrespected the American flag (and subsequently backed off), no current NFL player has admonished Jackson for his anti-Semitism. Jason Schwartz, a former offensive lineman with the New York Giants, is not surprised at the silence.

Worse, former NBA player and current Showtime podcaster Stephen Jackson (no relation) has praised Jackson for "speaking the truth." Jackson, who earned a NBA championship ring with the San Antonio Spurs in 2003, probably won't face any consequences as he was a close friend of George Floyd and has been outspoken in the weeks following his murder by the Minneapolis Police Department. I also don't expect the Eagles, much less the NFL, to discipline DeSean Jackson.

Why? Because America is unwilling the hold members of the African-American community accountable for anti-Semitism as was the case the in the wave of attacks against Jews in New York and especially the fatal attack on a Jersey City deli in December 2019 which resulted in the deaths of four people including two Orthodox Jews. Two African-American officials subsequently praised the attacks and did not face any consequences for it. Why? Because people would rather Jews be murdered than to be accused of racism. Sad, but true.
