Stephen Miller & Ilhan Omar Both Represent The Worst of American Politics

I might very well be the only person in this country who believes that both White House advisor Stephen Miller and Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar represent the worst in American politics.

The two have been in the spotlight together since Omar called Miller "a white nationalist" on Twitter. A number of conservatives such as New York Congressman Lee Zedlin have come to Miller's defense on the grounds of his Judaism. But when you spend your formative years at Duke University palling around with white supremacists like Richard Spencer while bullying Spanish speaking students into speaking English then you are a xenophobe. It also doesn't help when his own uncle arrived at the same conclusion.

But I harbor no illusions about the motives of Ilhan Omar. The only reason she is directing her attack at Miller is because he is Jewish. The fact that he is a xenophobe is irrelevant to her. Given how Omar has questioned the loyalty of American Jews, it is no surprise she has reserved her harshest attacks for Jewish officials such as Miller and Elliott Abrams.

Unfortunately, politics is a team sport. Republicans cannot acknowledge Miller's xenophobia (nor Trump's for that matter) while Democrats deny Omar's anti-Semitism (but are quick to accuse Trump of the same). Hatred is hatred. If it's OK for your guy or gal to do it then it is only a matter of time before hatred becomes tolerated and then codified. This is what the Stephen Millers and the Ilhan Omars have unleashed on this country.
