Netanyahu Wins Re-Election; Poised to Become Israel's Longest Serving PM

Benjamin Netanyahu has earned his fifth mandate from Israeli voters during a national election which took place. Netanyahu faced a tough battle from the centrist Blue and White alliance led by former IDF Chief Benny Gantz. In fact, both Netanyahu's Likud and Gantz's Blue & White each won 35 seats in the Knesset. But the smaller, predominantly Orthodox Jewish parties are most likely to align with Netanyahu to give him yet another mandate.

Assuming Netanyahu is in office in a year from now, he will surpass Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion as the Jewish State's longest serving Premier. Of course, there are bribery and corruption charges pending and he could face the same fate of his predecessor Ehud Olmert and land in jail.

For now, Netanyahu remains in office. By virtue of winning, Bibi will remain the bête noire of Beto O'Rourke, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and parts of the Democratic Party who see fit to turn Israel into public enemy number one. This is a foolish gambit.

Whether The Left likes it or not, Israelis have made their choice and they have done so freely. The same cannot be said for the Palestinians who have not voted since 2006.
