Phillips Says It's "Delusional" To Think Biden Can Beat Trump; It's Delusional That Phillips Thinks He'll Be President

Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips, who is challenging President Biden for the Democratic Party nomination, claimed it is "delusional" to think that Biden will prevail against defeated, former President Trump next year.

Phillips cited Biden's falling numbers against Trump this month in a piece published today by Politico in which Trump leads in 11 out of 13 polls taken this month

On X (formerly known as Twitter), Phillips claimed:
As a member of House Democratic Leadership, I supported and promoted the Biden agenda. I campaigned for him, voted for him, and respect him. But how can anyone read this and conclude he’s positioned to defeat Donald Trump? It’s delusional.

For starters, if Phillips respected Biden he wouldn't be running a vanity project of a presidential campaign that he launched nearly a month ago in the first place.

Secondly, only one of the 13 polls utilizes likely voters. That was the Rasmussen poll which actually had Biden ahead by 4 points. Eleven other polls use registered voters while the Reuters-Ipsos poll simply surveyed adults. These polls are misleading and not actually representative of what likely voters think.

Thirdly, it is Phillips who is being delusional. While it remains to be seen if Biden can beat Trump again, there is no way in hell that Phillips is going to beat Trump let alone beat Biden. If Phillips believes in these polls so strongly then he ought to check out the most recent Emerson poll. While Trump leads Biden by four points among registered voters, Biden leads Phillips among Democratic primary voters by 64 points.

Hell, Phillips is three points behind Marianne Williamson for cryin' out loud.

Dean Phillips will be but a footnote in American political history. Yesterday, Phillips announced he would not seek re-election to Congress.

His 15 minutes cannot come soon enough.
