Shortly after the release of the House Ethics Committee Report, New York Republican Congressman George Santos announced he will not seek re-election.
However, given his propensity for lying, I am not inclined to believe Santos.
After all, when all his lies came to the surface before being sworn into Congress in December 2022, Santos told New York Republicans he wouldn't seek a second term only to announce he would seek re-election in April 2023.
Yes, Santos has been indicted under 23 federal charges. Still, that's a quarter of the federal and state charges against defeated, former President Trump and this isn't deterring him one iota. Granted, only Trump can be Trump. But Santos is nothing if not brazen when it comes to lying with (among many other things) his repeated claims he is "Jew-ish."
We should not be shocked if (and probably when) George Santos announces he will run for re-election after all.
