Actor Larry Storch, best known for his portrayal of Corporal Agarn in the 1960's sitcom F Troop, passed away in his sleep yesterday. He was exactly 99 1/2 years old.
In addition to F Troop, Storch did a lot of voice work most notably on Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales as Mr. Whoopee collaborating with his lifelong friend Don Adams in the title role. Storch appeared on TV shows such as I Dream of Jeannie, The Flying Nun, Get Smart, Mannix, Kolchak: The Night Stalker and Columbo. Prior to his acting career, Storch served in the U.S. Navy in WWII aboard the U.S.S. Proteus along with acting great Tony Curtis.
Although Storch's last acting credit was in 2010, he was a beloved figure who was active on the convention circuit and had a strong social media presence on Facebook.
I remember Storch from his guest spot on the 1974 Columbo episode "Negative Reaction" featuring Dick Van Dyke (who is still with us at 96). Storch plays an agitated driving instructor who becomes even more agitated when he is subjected to Columbo's hazardous driving. I leave you with the aforementioned scene above. R.I.P.
