On Sunday, I reacted to the doubts raised regarding the story of 10-year old Ohio girl who had to cross state lines into Indiana to obtain an abortion by raising doubts of my own.
Well, lo and behold, a 27-year old man named Gerson Fuentes has been charged with raping the girl and has reportedly confessed to doing so on two occasions.
Writing this gives me no pleasure. There are cruel people who commit heinous acts against children who should never live another day in freedom. Then there are cruel people who derive pleasure in denying a crime has happened because it does not suit their political agenda.
Cue Fox News whose pundits were falling all over each other in calling this story a hoax including Outnumbered host Emily Compagno who said, "There is no shortage of 10-year-old rape victims. …There are so many monsters out there. So for me what I find so deeply offensive is that they had to make up a fake one.”
Well, guess what? Not only is Fuentes very real it turns out he is undocumented. So now Fox News comes out with this headline:

Mind you, Fox News is fully onboard with Dobbs v. Jackson and the state laws which restrict abortions including in cases of rape and incest. They object to a 10-year old girl aborting her rapist's fetus but now that her rapist is an illegal immigrant they are happy to chew on that red meat down to the bone.
Of course, there were mainstream media outlets which also raised doubts such as The Washington Post. While I disagreed with Glenn Kessler's analysis, I don't think he wrote his story in bad faith. The same cannot be said for the folks at Fox News who have revictimize a 10-year old girl and her family while only now expressing an interest in this horrific crime and the abortion which resulted so that they can express their racism with glee.
