2019 WS Rivals Nationals & Astros Cancel Workouts Due to COVID-19 Testing Delays

The Washington Nationals and Houston Astros who faced off during the 2019 World Series what seems like a century ago have united in cancelling team workouts due to delays in COVID-19 testing complicating the reopening of MLB in just over two and a half weeks from now. There are also concerns about a shortage of PPE.

Several Nationals players (Ryan Zimmerman, Joe Ross and Wellington Castillo) have already indicated they will not partake in the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns while the team's closer Sean Doolittle aired these concerns over the weekend:

Sports are like the reward of a functioning society. And we’re trying to just bring it back, even though we’ve taken none of the steps to flatten the curve, whatever you want to say, We did flatten the curve a little bit, but we didn’t use that time to do anything productive. We just opened back up for Memorial Day.

Yet in the grand scheme of things MLB players are fortunate to have some access to testing. Katie Keier, a Washington D.C. area kindergarten teacher tweeted:

So baseball players will get tested for COVID-19 every two days. How often will teachers and students be tested?

If we can't answer this question before the first day of school then how can MLB have an Opening Day?
