Like Nikki Haley, Tim Scott is Running To Be Trump's VP; Unlike Haley, Scott Has a Chance

On Friday, South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott filed the necessary paperwork to formally launch his bid for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. An official announcement is expected tomorrow morning.

His forthcoming announcement will come a little over three months after his fellow Palmetto state resident Nikki Haley launched her presidential bid. My views of Scott's presidential bid are fairly similar to Haley's bid. When news came to light regarding Haley's bid, I figured he was in the running too

As with Haley, I don't think Scott has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination. As with Haley, Scott will aim his barbs at other GOP hopefuls namely Florida Governor Ron DeSantis which Haley has been doing particularly where it concerns Disney. As with Haley, Scott is running to be Trump's VP pick. But unlike Haley, Scott actually has a chance of being picked.

While it is more likely than not that Trump will pick a woman to be his running mate (i.e. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kari Lake, Kristi Noem or perhaps even someone like Marsha Blackburn) I don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility that Trump could pick an African-American male like Scott to be his running mate. Aside from the fact that his profile will be increased considerably, should Trump pick Scott it could offset accusations of racism which have often been leveled at Trump. I think Haley is out of the picture because Trump does not perceive her as being loyal. At this point, Trump does not have such a problem with Scott.

Following January 6th, Haley briefly broke with Trump. By contrast, Scott said that Trump "is the one person I don't blame" for the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Who do you think Trump would rather have as his running mate?
