The United States has now surpassed 75 million COVID-19 cases. According to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, there have been 75,304,733 COVID cases resulting in 890,356 deaths representing a mortality rate of 1.2%.
Due to the Omicron variant, more than 20 million COVID cases were recorded in January alone. To put this number into perspective, it took the U.S. almost a year to record its first 20 million COVID cases. It was astonishing to consider it took 25 days to add 5 million new cases. Now we've been doing this in a week or less.
While Omicron cases and hospitalizations have been declining in recent days it will be telling to see how many cases we add in February.
