U.S. COVID Deaths Pass 900,000 as Cases Top 76 Million

More than 900,000 Americans have died of COVID-19. According to Johns Hopkins University of School of Medicine, there have been 76,344,963 cases resulting in 901,288 deaths representing a mortality rate of 1.2%

There have been 100,000 deaths in just under two months. During that time, a majority of deaths have taken place in states with vaccination rates below the national average such as Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana and Michigan. Over the past 9 days, we have seen 25,000 deaths. While Omicron cases are slowing down, the death rate is picking up.

If we maintain this pace the United States will pass 1 million COVID deaths on March 12th, but I have a feeling it will be likely be a bit sooner. But we will likely hit the 1 million death at or very near the two year anniversary where our lives changed as we know it and have changed irrevocably despite those like Bari Weiss who claim they are done with COVID

Yet COVID is not done with us and won't be done so as long as the Shaquille O'Neal's of the world tell us we shouldn't take vaccines if we don't want to take them. If we had this kind of attitude in the 1950's we would still have polio and smallpox.

It didn't have to be this way. But it is this way and it is going to get way worse despite the best efforts of the Biden Administration and public health officials. Unfortunately, COVIDIOCY has become contagious and has now spread to Canada and beyond. The sad truth is it won't matter if 1 million Americans or 10 million Americans die of COVID so long as a critical mass of us insist on living in an alternate universe where compassion, knowledge and reason are looked upon with suspicion and contempt.
