It would seem Russian dictator Vladimir Putin isn't content with taking over Ukraine.
Putin has now threatened to invade both Finland and Sweden should they see fit to join NATO. Neither country has formally applied to join NATO, but both have offered humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and this has proven sufficient to provoke Putin's ire.
The threat to invade two other sovereign nations comes despite blowback against Russia from two of its allies in the Czech Republic and Hungary. With memories of Soviet tanks entering their countries, both Czech Republic President Milos Zeman and Hungarian President Viktor Orban have both condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Orban's condemnation comes as a particular surprise given his own tendency towards authoritarianism. It also complicates things for the right-wing in America who admire Orban every bit as much as they admire Putin particularly Tucker Carlson who has visited Hungary and heaped praise upon Orban. Now Orban says he will not oppose any EU sanctions against Russia.
However, at this point, Putin doesn't appear to be deterred. I think the only way Putin will be stopped if there is a coup within the Kremlin.
