Authorities have arrested a 56-year old Florida man named Cesar Sayoc, Jr. in connection with the pipe bombs mailed to prominent Democrats including to former President Obama and to Bill and Hillary Clinton as well as CNN headquarters in New York City.
Yesterday, I put forward the case that the suspect would fit one of three profiles - a) a Trump supporter b) someone from the Left masquerading as a Trump supporter or c) a foreign agent acting on behalf of an adversarial government or terrorist organization.
Well, it looks like it's a). The suspect's van is covered with pro-Trump bumper stickers. No doubt the Alex Jones of the world will insist it is b). That is their stock and trade.
So let us assume for the moment that the suspect is in fact a genuine Trump supporter. The Left is going to have to avoid the mistake of painting the broad brush of Savoc, Jr's alleged actions upon all Trump supporters, but methinks they will make this mistake enthusiastically. If they do then it will cost them. The reality is that if Trump is going to be defeated in 2020 there will have to be a segment of his bloc that defects. But if the Left insists on using that broad brush such a defection will not come to pass and Trump will serve another four years.
