After losing for the first time in 11 years in 2023, the American League rebounded against the National League in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game with a 5-3 victory at Globe Life Park, home of the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers.
The NL had the upper hand when Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Shohei Ohtani slammed a 3-run HR off Boston Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck in the top of the third. However, the AL would answer with 3 runs on a double by New York Yankees slugger Juan Soto and a single by Cleveland Guardians catcher David Fry.
The tie would be broken in the bottom of the fifth by Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran who slammed a 2-run HR off Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene. For his efforts, Duran was named All-Star Game MVP.
On a personal note, I really hate the garish league uniforms. Fortunately, MLB is considering going back to having players wear their team uniforms. We'll see what happens at the 2025 MLB All-Star Game which is scheduled to take place at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.
