David Ortiz Is The Greatest Player In Boston Red Sox History

With the elimination of the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS, David Ortiz's MLB career is now over.

In his final game, Ortiz went 0 for 1 with a RBI via a sacrifice fly and two walks. He would be lifted for pinch runner Marco Hernandez in the eighth inning.

With all due respect to the achievements of Ted Williams, David Ortiz is the greatest player to ever wear a Boston Red Sox uniform.

If not for David Ortiz this team would not have won three World Series titles.

"Big Papi" changed the mentality of the Boston Red Sox organization by turning it from one that was cursed to one that is blessed.

It's too bad that Ortiz will not get a chance for a fourth World Series ring. But he went out on a high note hitting .315 with 38 home runs, 127 RBI and a league leading 48 doubles. It's hard to believe he is 40. But all things must come to an end. It wasn't a storybook end this time around, but he did rewrite Red Sox history.

With that in mind, David Ortiz is a sure bet to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as top of the Class of 2022.
