During a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, defeated, former President Donald Trump claimed that President Biden is engaged in "a conspiracy to overthrow the United States of America.”:
Biden’s conduct on our border is by any definition a conspiracy to overthrow the United States of America. Biden and his accomplices want to collapse the American system, nullify the will of the actual American voters and establish a new base of power that gives them control for generations.
When Trump makes this claim about Biden, he is projecting his own qualities (or lack thereof) upon the President. After all, it is Trump who led a conspiracy to nullify the will of the American voter and prevent the peaceful transfer of power so he could keep it for himself. Indeed, it is akin to when Trump claimed the 2020 election was "an insurrection" and January 6th was "the protest".
Trump is also in no position to make any complaints regarding President Biden's policy on the border. After all, Biden gave Republicans in Congress what they wanted regarding the border until Trump nixed it.
Trump has no interest in actually fixing the border. What he is interested in is mobilizing hatred at the ballot box by vilifying those who seek to cross it or have already crossed it with terms such as "poisoning the blood of our nation", "invasion" or "migrant crime".
The next time Trump tells you that President Biden is trying to overthrow the United States of America, remember that he tried to do that himself after the 2020 election and will try to do so again after the 2024 election if he doesn't like the results.
