In less than half an hour from now, President Biden will address the nation in his third State of the Union address.
There are two things which I fear could happen and neither are any reflection on President Biden.
My first fear involves defeated, former President Donald Trump. I can imagine a scenario where Trump shows up on Capitol Hill enters the House chamber during President Biden's speech and walks up to the podium to confront him.
Admittedly, it is a far-fetched scenario. But after January 6th, anything is possible on the floor of Congress. There's nothing Trump likes better than show business and staging a confrontation and staging a confrontation with President Biden live in front of the whole world would be making a statement. Mind you, if this were to happen, I think President Biden is more than capable of handling the situation.
I think my second fear is a less far-fetched scenario. It involves pro-Hamas supporters heckling him by either shouting "Free Gaza!!!", "Free, free Palestine!!", "Ceasefire Now" or "Genocide Joe". Given that President Biden has been confronted in this manner in South Carolina and Virginia it isn't beyond the realm of possibility it could happen again tonight with the whole world watching even with the tightest of security.
In particular, I am afraid that such a thing would happen when President Biden speaks about the hostages held in Gaza as the families of several Americans being held hostage are expected to be in attendance. Although if that were to happen there would be a backlash against the Palestinians - but not for long. How long did it take for world opinion to shift from sympathy towards Jewish men, women and children being kidnapped, raped and murdered to blaming Israel for alleged war crimes? Under the circumstances, I will not be surprised should such a thing come to pass this evening.
