Katie Britt's SOTU Response Is Going To Be a SNL Skit

After watching President Biden's SOTU address, I also made a point of watching Alabama Republican Senator Katie Britt's GOP response.

I had never heard Britt speak before and she has been mentioned as a potential VP running mate for defeated, former President Donald Trump. So I was curious to see what she was about.

Oh, dear G-d!!!

I can guarantee that Katie Britt's SOTU response is going to be the cold open for the next episode of Saturday Night Live.

Britt might be a 42-year-old mother of two children, but she possesses the melodrama of an adolescent. Britt might be more telegenic than Marjorie Taylor Greene, but came off every bit as paranoid.

Seated at her kitchen table, "Senator" Britt spent much of her address focusing on the southern border claiming that we had the most secure border before President Biden took office. Gee, that might have had something to do with COVID rather than the policies of President Trump. But no matter. Britt all but blamed President Biden for being responsible for the sex traffic of women. Last I checked, a jury held Trump responsible for the sexual assault of a woman.

Then there is the murder of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was murdered while out for a jog. A man who entered the country illegally from Venezuela has been charged with the crime, a point acknowledged by President Biden during an exchange with Marjorie Taylor Greene who was sporting Trump regalia instead of furs. Yet I don't seem to recall much outrage from Republicans when another Georgia jogger named Ahmaud Arbery who was lynched nearly four years to the day that Riley was murdered. The fact remains there was a border bill negotiated by Democrats and Republicans and Republicans (including Katie Britt) did nothing to implement measures which would have reduced illegal border crossings at the southern border because Trump told them to jump.

Britt criticized President Biden for abandoning Afghanistan. Yet it was Trump who chose to formally recognize the Taliban. She went as far as to claim that President Biden was "not in command" and was "dithering and diminished" despite all evidence to the contrary. The only one who came across as dithering and diminished in that address was Katie Britt.

Then again perhaps Britt's repeated references to the Chinese Communist Party will endear her to Trump. On the other hand, Britt made no mention of Trump's name. Her lack of direct praise will be viewed in Trumpworld as a lack of loyalty. Despite her youth and amiable appearance, I don't think Trump will pick Britt as his running mate as I think she has drawn attention to herself in a way that does not help him.

And this is the best the Republican Party could offer?
