UN Secretary-General Guterres Justifies Hamas' Barbarism Against Jews

In remarks before the UN Security Council today, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres engaged in doubletalk. It started out OK:

I have condemned unequivocally the horrifying and unprecedented 7 October acts of terror by Hamas in Israel.

Nothing can justify the deliberate killing, injuring and kidnapping of civilians – or the launching of rockets against civilian targets.

Then Guterres equivocated. He justified Hamas' barbarity:

It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum.

The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation.

Nonsense.

The Palestinians and their Arab ancestors were granted a state with the 1947 UN Partition Plan which also established the State of Israel. The Jews said yes, the Arabs said no. Perhaps a UN Secretary General ought to be familiar with such a document and the respective responses to said document.

This year could have marked the 75th anniversary of a Palestinian state, but the Palestinians do not want statehood. They want dead Jews as evidenced by Hamas' actions on October 7, 2023.

Of course, Guterres blithely ignores the fact that Israel left Hamas controlled Gaza in 2005. Some occupation.

Needless to say, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan has demanded Gutteres' resignation

Alas, Erdan's plea will fall on deaf ears. Even if Erdan were to resign, his successor would likely be even worse. The UN has long been a cesspool of anti-Semitism. Indeed, it could be said anti-Semitism is a prerequisite to be UN Secretary-General.
