Mark Goddard, 1936-2023

Actor Mark Goddard, best known for his portrayal of Major Don West in the 1960's TV sci-fi series Lost in Space, passed away on October 10th of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 87.

Prior to Lost in Space, Goddard was a familiar face on TV in the 1960s as part of the cast of both Johnny Ringo and The Detectives. But it was as the no-nonsense Major West where Goddard made his mark on TV as the member of the Jupiter 2 who wouldn't put up with Dr. Smith's shenanigans.

In the late 1980's, Goddard would return to his native Massachusetts where he would complete his Masters in Education at Bridgewater State University becoming a special ed teacher. Goddard would occasionally make appearances at the conventions to discuss the enduring popularity of Lost in Space.

Now Major West has taken his permanent place among the stars. R.I.P.
