Bobby Eaton, R.I.P.

When I awoke this morning I received a text from my brother Ezra that former professional wrestler Bobby Eaton had passed away at the age of 62.

Eaton was best known as a tag team specialist with the Midnight Express first with Dennis Condrey and later with Stan Lane. Although Eaton primarily worked as a heel, he was considered by his fellow pro wrestlers to be one of the good guys in the business. Fellow tag team partner and occasional rival Arn Anderson said of Eaton upon learning of his death:
The world lost its finest citizen. If there was a kinder, gentler person I would sure love to meet them. I could spend all day talking how special he was in a wrestling ring. That's easy. What's hard is to do justice to the person he was.

Eaton was known to pay for the meals of his fellow wrestlers and supply them with extra toiletries or clothing. But to really illustrate how strong his reputation was is when wrestler Bill Dundee learned his daughter Donna was dating a fellow wrestler he went ballistic and was planning to kill that wrestler. That is until he learned his daughter was dating Bobby Eaton.

Sadly, Donna Dundee Eaton passed away back in June and this could not have helped Eaton's spirits as he had been an experiencing of myriad of health problems in recent years. But Bobby Eaton's kindness and warmth will be remembered long after he is gone. R.I.P.
