Hamas remains large and in charge of Gaza.
They have demonstrated this by carrying out public executions.
On top of that, they have also been flaunting the ceasefire by handing Israel a dead Palestinian instead of a deceased hostage something I predicted they would do scarcely 48 hours ago.
This is on President Trump's head.
If he wants to accept credit for the release of the last 20 living hostages, then he is going to have to accept blame for Hamas actions going forward.
Indeed, by Trump's own admission he gave Hamas his blessing:
Well, they [Hamas] are standing because they do want to stop the problems, and they’ve been open about it, and we gave them approval for a period of time.
What problems? And for what period of time?
In a sense it doesn't really matter because Trump has given Hamas approval to remain in power indefinitely.
Yes, I am aware that Trump has called upon Hamas to disarm. Trump claimed, "If they don't disarm, we will disarm them. And it will happen quickly and perhaps violently."
But I'm afraid actions speak louder than words and Trump has permitted them to remain armed and thus remain in power in Gaza.
These actions are not something which warrants a Nobel Peace Prize.
But no matter. I'm sure Trump is enjoying all those gifts he has been bequeathed to him by the Qataris.
