Brewers Hold Off Cubs in NLDS

The Milwaukee Brewers turned back the challenge of the Chicago Cubs to win the decisive Game 5 of the NLDS 3-1 on the strength of HRs by William Contreras, Andrew Vaughn and Brice Turang.

The Brew Crew had been in danger of yet another early exit. After winning Games 1 & 2, the Cubs took Games 3 & 4. Milwaukee had lost the NL Wild Card round in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023 while losing the NLDS in 2021 to eventual World Series champion Atlanta Braves.

With tonight's win, the Brewers reach the NLCS for the first time since 2018 when they faced the Los Angeles Dodgers and took them to seven games before LA prevailed. They will face the Dodgers once more and will face the task of unseating the defending World Series champions.

The NLCS will commence on Monday night in Milwaukee.
