U.S. Tops 21 Million COVID-19 Cases

While our attention is justly focused on what is happening at this hour in Georgia as it has consequences for COVID-19 in terms of disseminating vaccines and further economic relief, it should be noted that the U.S. has now topped 21 million COVID-19 cases. As of this writing there are 21,046,196 COVID-19 cases resulting in 357,228 deaths. This represents a mortality rate of 1.7%.

This country has added 1 million cases in four days with more than 130,000 Americans hospitalized due to the virus. Care has been rationed in Los Angeles, the country's second largest city.

Even if Georgia gives Democrats control to the Senate, Ossoff and Warnock and the narrow Democratic majority along with the Biden Administration will have their work cut out for them as things are very bad and will get worse before they get better. Any celebrations which might be forthcoming must be short-lived.
