There Have Been 23 Million Cases of COVID-19 in The U.S.

Today, the United States recorded its 23 millionth case of COVID-19. According to Johns Hopkins University, there are 23,029,450 cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. causing 383.939 deaths. This represents a mortality rate of 1.7%.

This is the third consecutive time we have added 1 million new cases every four days. We topped 20 million cases on New Year's Day. By the time Trump leaves office a week from now, we will be at or very near 25 million cases and 400,000 deaths. Some legacy.

Vaccine distribution is far slower than the pace of the spread of COVID-19. Trump promised that 20 million would be vaccinated by the end of 2020. Less than half of that total has been vaccinated. Of course, President-elect Biden could be setting up himself up for failure by promising 100 million vaccinations in 100 days. Chances are when Biden takes power things will be much worse then even he imagined. It also doesn't help matters that the Senate hasn't confirmed any of his appointments. This too shall delay things.

Just about the only thing that hasn't been delayed is the spread of COVID-19.
