The United States has surpassed 22 million COVID-19 cases. According to Johns Hopkins University, there are 22,095,975 COVID-19 cases in the U.S. resulting in 371,989 deaths. This represents a mortality rate of 1.7%.
With the emergence of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, there is a sentiment that a light is at the end of the tunnel. But please consider these facts. It took 300 days for the U.S. to reach 11 million COVID-19 cases. It has taken only 55 days to double that total to 22 million. That's just under 8 weeks. During these past 55 days over 125,000 Americans have died of COVID-19. By tomorrow or Monday, we will top 375,000 deaths.
I wish there was better news but we're just not there yet.
