On 9/11, No One in Canada Died of COVID-19

September 11th will always be a date associated with death. But this September 11th was a day of joy at least in Canada.

Today, no one died in Canada due to COVID-19. This was the first day Canada had not recorded a COVID fatality since March 15th - almost six months. The COVID death toll in Canada remains at 9,163.

This is not a victory lap by any means. Canada also saw 702 new cases of COVID - the largest daily total since June 6th. This brings the national case total to 135,626

To put that number into perspective those 135,626 have accumulated since JanuaryThe United States has added nearly 250,000 COVID cases over the past 7 days (248,939). There are a dozen states which have more COVID cases than all of Canada. Alabama has less than 100 fewer cases of COVID than Canada. But Canada's population which is approaching 38 million people is more than seven times the size of Alabama which has slightly fewer than 5 million people

Here's another sobering thought. As many people in the United States will have died of COVID in the next eight days that have died in Canada over the past eight months.

All of which means Canada (like man other countries) is leaps and bounds ahead of the United States when it comes to COVID.

These are the sorts of things which makes me miss my home and native land
