It was a case of deja vu all over again.
During this afternoon's White House press conference, President Trump demanded that Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason remove his mask.When Mason refused to do so, Trump moved on to another reporter.
Trump did the same thing with Mason at a White House press conference in late May. At that time, when Mason refused to remove the mask Trump dismissively told Mason, "You just want to be politically correct." But Mason stood firm then as he did today.
While Trump has long publicly regarded the news media as an enemy of the American people, it is quite curious he has saw fit to single out the same reporter twice in a little over three months.
When Trump first admonished Mason, it was the same day the United States had topped 100,000 COVID-19 deaths with 1.7 million cases. Between Trump's tongue lashings, this country has now seen nearly 90,000 deaths and nearly 4.6 million more cases.
