Albert Pujols Passes Willie Mays on All-Time Home Run List

On Friday night, Albert Pujols passed Willie Mays on MLB's all-time home run list when he slammed his 661st round tripper of his career. Pujols would add a second HR during the Los Angeles Angels' 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Pujols, 40, now has the fifth most HRs in MLB history. The Dominican born slugger only trails Alex Rodriguez (696), Babe Ruth (714), Hank Aaron (755) and Barry Bonds (762).

There is one more year on Pujols' contract with the Angels. Should there be a full season in MLB in 2021, Pujols has an outside shot at passing A-Rod and possibly reaching 700 career home runs.

But if Pujols never hits another home run he secured his place in Cooperstown long ago with 3,000 plus hits, 10 All-Star Team selections and three NL MVP honors. Still, it's not every day one gets to surpass the Say Hey Kid. Congratulations!!!
