As you probably know by now actor James Earl Jones passed away today at the age of 93.
Jones enjoyed an acting career which lasted nearly 7 decades. While Jones himself had a commanding presence, his voice was otherworldly whether it was for Darth Vader in Star Wars, Mufasa in The Lion King or uttering a simple phrase like, "This is CNN." He could have said, "I'd like a burger and a Coke," and we would have been hanging on every word.
James Earl Jones has now left this world, but his voice shall soar forever.
Perhaps the words which resonate with me the most is the monologue he delivered in Field in Dreams in which he told Ray Kinsella (as played by Kevin Costner) that people would come because baseball is a reminder of what was good and can be good again.
Today, Jones walked off in the Iowa cornfield to join the likes of Shoeless Joe Jackson. R.I.P.
